Anambra Police Arrest Three Suspected Cultists, Recover Arms in Ogidi

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu of the Anambra Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered arms in Ogidi on 21st March 2026.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Command in a statement on Tuesday said the arrest followed sustained investigation and interrogations.

He said “The Operatives made additional progress with the arrest of the suspected ringleader of the syndicate, one Chukwuka Anene ‘M’, aged 46 years, who confessed to being the armourer of the gang.

“The suspect subsequently led Police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi, where the following items were recovered: two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.

“The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang, while investigations remain ongoing. Further developments will be communicated in due course.”

The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urges members of the public to continue to support the Police with credible information.
