APC mobilises 4.4 million polling unit officials for Tinubu’s re-election – Uzodimma

The Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recruited 4,421,150 persons across the nation’s 176,846 polling units as part of its grassroots mobilisation plan ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday at a two-day national retreat of the RHA in Abuja, the Imo State Governor expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office would secure him a second term.
Uzodimma explained that the retreat was designed to build a unified grassroots mobilisation machinery, adding that deploying 25 canvassers per polling unit creates a lawful civic force capable of organising for victory rather than merely hoping for it.
He outlined a layered command structure running from a national coordinating centre through geopolitical zones, states, local government areas, registration areas, and down to each polling unit. The RHA, he said, now operates across 17 directorates, including youth, mobilisation, media, digital platforms, finance, legal affairs, technology, women affairs, diaspora, and research.
A digital platform equipped with a Data Communication Centre was launched in April to track public sentiment and counter misinformation in real time.
Describing 2027 as a defining moment, Uzodimma said the elections would serve as a referendum on whether Nigeria continues with the current path of reform and stability or turns back.
He defended the administration’s removal of fuel subsidy and foreign exchange reforms as difficult but necessary decisions aimed at securing the country’s long-term economic future. He pointed to a 3.89 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026 and major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Road, and the student loan scheme as indicators of progress.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, speaking at the same event, said foreign reserves had risen to over $50 billion, with a trade surplus of N7.55 trillion recorded in the first quarter of 2026. He also claimed that Shell, which had been reducing investments in Nigeria, had committed a fresh $20 billion to the economy.
Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who serves as RHA Secretary, described the retreat as a response to the approaching 2027 elections, urging participants to counter what he called a coordinated opposition disinformation campaign.
The retreat is expected to produce a national grassroots mobilisation blueprint, state-by-state action plans, and an election readiness checklist before delegates disperse.
