The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Danladi Envulu-anza, has emerged victorious in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election, securing the seat with a decisive majority.

The legislative election was held across the district to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant by the death of Senator Godiya Akwashiki following a prolonged illness.

The final results were declared on Sunday at the collation headquarters located within the College of Education in Akwanga. Votes were pooled from the three local government areas forming the senatorial zone: Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba.

According to official figures announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Aminu Ali, Envulu-anza secured 45,362 votes to win the election. Labaran Maku of the Labour Party (LP) finished second with 12,931 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Emmanuel David Ombugadu, placed third with 11,570 votes. The remaining balance went to minor party candidates, with Alaku Mohammed Steve of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polling 1,496 votes and John Paul of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) receiving 102 votes.

The conclusion of the vote tabulation was marked by visible dissent from opposition ranks. Representatives of the Labour Party staged a walkout from the collation hall immediately after the localized data aggregation from the three local government areas was finalized.

Led by party official Ben Ango, the LP delegation departed the facility without taking questions from reporters. The protest followed previous declarations made on election day by the LP candidate, Labaran Maku, who raised concerns regarding alleged malfunctions with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and other voting irregularities across several polling stations in the district.
