APM Unveils Governance Blueprint, Vows to Revitalize Economy and Security Ahead of 2027
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has formally announced a comprehensive governance blueprint, pledging to overhaul Nigeria’s economic and security architecture should it secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the APM criticized the current administration’s management of national affairs, citing rising inflation, unemployment, and systemic instability as evidence of a need for leadership change.
The APM has recently emerged as a significant opposition platform following the entry of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde into the party. Makinde, who formed a political alliance with the APM earlier this year, has since emerged as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 contest.
The party’s proposed governance agenda focuses on resuscitating the productive sector, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and reforming the nation’s security agencies to better protect citizens. According to the APM, the blueprint is designed to reverse current trends such as the departure of multinational corporations and the mass migration of skilled professionals a phenomenon commonly referred to as “Japa.”
The party’s leadership argued that the nation is currently facing a period of “rudderless governance,” characterized by high debt levels and widespread economic hardship. Citing an unemployment rate of over 33 percent and significant levels of poverty, the APM emphasized that its strategy prioritizes inclusive human development, transparency, and fiscal accountability.
The APM stated that its policy framework is designed to move beyond traditional governance by implementing strict anti-corruption measures and fostering private sector productivity. The party indicated that it intends to provide a credible alternative in the upcoming election cycle, with a focus on strategic investments in key sectors including energy, agriculture, education, and healthcare.
While a full, detailed version of the policy document is expected to be unveiled in the coming months, the party asserted that its platform remains service-oriented and geared toward restoring national stability and economic prosperity for all citizens.
