Armed Kidnappers Abduct Pregnant Woman in Akure Community

A pregnant woman, Mary Jesulayomi, has been abducted following an armed attack on the Ayede Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 7:00 p.m., just a short distance from the Federal Secretariat complex in Akure. According to eyewitnesses, armed men stormed the area, firing shots indiscriminately and causing panic among residents.
In a video account, a local resident, Pa Ogunleye Mese, narrated how the assailants targeted his home. He stated that he and his wife narrowly escaped being kidnapped, but a pregnant woman who was at their shop at the time was taken away.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the attack. Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, identified the victim as Mrs. Mary Jesulayomi and noted that an 85-year-old woman was also briefly abducted but later released. Her husband, Pa Ogunleye Mese, sustained injuries during the ordeal.
Jimoh stated that tactical teams have been deployed and that efforts are ongoing to rescue the pregnant woman and apprehend the perpetrators.
