Army Records Operational Successes Across Six States in 24 Hours

The Nigerian Army says it has recorded significant operational successes across various theatres in the last 24 hours, including the neutralisation of criminal threats, rescue of kidnapped victims, and dismantling of illegal networks.
In a statement shared via X on Sunday, the Army described the operations as coordinated, intelligence-driven offensives supported by inter-agency collaboration.
“The successes reflect sustained offensive actions and effective inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity nationwide,” the statement read.
In Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade, in conjunction with the police and local vigilantes, arrested two suspected terrorists during operations in Kakuma Ileteju/Origa and Ijumu villages. Two motorcycles and two chainsaw machines were recovered.
In Sokoto State, troops cleared several communities and rescued a foreign national a Nigerien citizen who had been held captive for over three weeks. The Army noted that the rescue highlights the cross-border dimension of terrorist activities.
In Niger State, troops neutralised threats, dismantled terrorist camps, destroyed illegal mining sites, and apprehended suspects.
In Akwa Ibom State, troops of 2 Brigade raided drug peddlers’ hideouts, arresting six suspects. Recovered items included 20kg of cannabis sativa, 120g of Canadian loud, 27.5g of Colorado, 4.3g of methamphetamine (ice), 15 bottles of codeine, one sachet of tramadol, and ₦431,500.
In Rivers State, troops uncovered and dismantled illegal bunkering facilities, recovering four galvanised pipes, hoses, reservoirs, drum ovens, and other equipment used in illicit oil refining.
In Plateau State, the Army also reported arrests and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, motorcycles, and cash.
