Asake Reunites with Daughter on Christmas Amid Past Family Tensions

Nigerian music star Asake sparked widespread celebration online after a heartwarming Christmas Day reunion with his young daughter, Zeenat, and her mother, Adijat.

A viral video from December 25 shows the award-winning singer, dressed in a black suit, sharing a tender moment with his daughter. He is seen holding Zeenat close, kissing her cheek, and affectionately rubbing her arm as she smiles in his embrace. Adijat was present, observing the interaction.

The emotional gathering resonated deeply with fans, following a year marked by public family disputes. Last March, Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, accused the singer of neglect in a widely circulated video, claiming he had received no support despite his son’s fame and that they had not met since 2022.

The controversy expanded when Adijat also alleged that Asake had abandoned their daughter for years after finding stardom. She stated she had financed his education at Obafemi Awolowo University and that Zeenat was born during that period.

However, Fatai Odunsi later indicated the issues were resolved during an interview with content creator Mrlilgaga, stating all was settled and offering prayers for his son.

Beyond the family reunion, Asake’s holiday season included a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who received and honoured him. The singer also returned to his alma mater, OAU, for a lighthearted performance, where he adhered to tradition by prostrating before taking the stage.
