Benue Community on Edge as Bandits Kidnap Residents
Tension is running high in Mnashisha, a community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, following a wave of violent attacks by suspected armed bandits. The bandits, allegedly led by a notorious gang leader known as Jugu, stormed the community and abducted several residents from their homes.
According to sources, the attack occurred on Friday around 4pm, with the bandits seizing a young man, Ayange Ikpa, among others. The abductors have not made any ransom demand, leaving the affected families anxious and making frantic efforts to secure their release.
The repeated attacks have left the community in fear, with many residents fleeing to neighboring areas and avoiding their homes after dark. Residents are appealing to the government and security agencies to intervene and restore peace to the area.
Efforts to reach the Benue State Police Command for confirmation were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, did not respond to calls.
