Buhari Back To Abuja After 8-day Trip To Saudi Arabia

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after an eight-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he also performed Umrah (lesser hajj), a religious pilgrimage for Muslims.

The president  departed Saudi Arabia via King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.

The Saudi government officials, traditional and spiritual leaders from Nigeria as well as some senior staff of the Nigerian embassy in the Kingdom were at the airport to bid him farewell.

Last Thursday, Buhari performed Umrah rituals, amid tight security, upon his arrival at the Grand Mosque in Makkah from Madinah.

Buhari, alongside members of his entourage and some traditional and religious leaders from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, was led by a delegation from the general presidency for the affairs of the Grand Mosque in the performance of the rituals.

The Nigerian leader visited some historical religious places in Madinah on Tuesday and Wednesday before proceeding to Makkah for the Umrah.

Also, while in Makkah, Buhari hosted some traditional and religious leaders for Iftar.

The president is expected to hand over to President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29.
