Buni Approves 10-year Development Masterplan For Damaturu

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has approved the implementation of a 10-year Development Masterplan for Damaturu, the state capital.

Spokesman, Yobe Geographic Information Service (YOGIS) Alhaji Usman Geidam, revealed this in a statement in Damaturu on Sunday.

“With the approval of the master plan, it is going to be a fitting answer to the remodeling of the state’s pathway towards a realistic and consistent socio-economic development paradigm, properly articulated as a long term visioning and planning”, the statement read.

Geidam explained that Damaturu’s master plan has not been updated for 25 years, adding that it will produce an overarching planning document and spatial layout which will guide the land use in Damaturu.

“The plan will also recommend sites for public use, economic activities, affordable housing, transportation, infrastructure, community facilities and other land uses.

“This will be obtained by reviewing the current and existing plan,” he said.

The state government said it will implement the plan to put Damaturu on a pedestal of sustainable socio-economic development, especially with reforms on land administration.
