CAC Confirms Cybersecurity Breach, Assures Public of Containment Measures

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to parts of its information systems, stating that the breach affected only limited aspects of its digital infrastructure.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the commission said it immediately activated its response protocols to contain the situation. It is currently reviewing the incident in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), other relevant government agencies, and partners to assess the scope and impact.

According to the statement, containment measures have already been implemented, and additional safeguards are now in place to protect the integrity of the commission’s systems.

The CAC also advised stakeholders to take precautionary steps while the review continues. These include monitoring their records on the CAC portal, updating login credentials, and remaining vigilant against unsolicited communications that may arise from the incident.

Reassuring the public, the commission reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s corporate registry and maintaining system integrity. It promised to provide further updates as necessary.
