CAC to Sanction Companies for Incomplete Business Letter Details Starting August 1

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that it will begin strict enforcement of statutory disclosure requirements for company business documents starting August 1, 2026. Companies failing to comply with these regulations will face specified sanctions.

In an official notice issued on Wednesday, the commission reminded all registered entities that, under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, every business letter including invoices, quotations, and official correspondence must clearly display mandatory corporate information.

According to the CAC, the required details include:

* The company’s registered name and registration number.

* The present forenames (or initials) and surnames of all directors.

* Any former names used by directors.

* The nationality of every non-Nigerian director.

The commission stated that it will enforce the full application of Sections 304(1) and 304(2) of the Act. These measures are intended to promote greater transparency and accountability within the corporate regulatory environment.

The CAC has urged all registered companies to review their business stationery and official documents to ensure all required information is stated in legible characters before the August deadline. By ensuring compliance, firms can avoid penalties and contribute to a more resilient and orderly business landscape.
