Chelsea Close In on Emiliano Martínez Signing After Reaching Villa Agreement

Chelsea are on the verge of completing the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez after reaching an agreement with the Midlands club for his transfer.

The Blues have reportedly agreed a £7.5 million deal for the Argentine international, with the experienced goalkeeper already indicating his willingness to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Martínez’s expected arrival comes as Chelsea look to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season. The club has been assessing its options following concerns over recent performances between the posts.

The 33-year-old is available after Aston Villa secured Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who is expected to become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the coming years.

A key figure for both club and country, Martínez has enjoyed a successful spell at Villa Park since joining from Arsenal in 2020. He helped Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and played a crucial role in Villa’s recent European campaign.

With negotiations now concluded, Chelsea are expected to finalize the transfer after the completion of a medical and other routine formalities before the close of the summer transfer window.
