Chimaroke Nnamani Loses Re-election Bid

Senator representing Enugu east, Chimaroke Nnamani has lost his bid to seek re-election to the upper legislative chamber.
Announcing the result on Sunday, Joachim Omeje, INEC returning officer, said Kelvin Chukwu, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), secured 69,136 votes to win the election.
Nnamani, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came second with 48,701 votes while Adaku Ogbu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came a distant third with 8,548 votes.
Kelvin is the brother to Oyibo Chukwu, who was the LP candidate for the senatorial district until his death days before the election was initially scheduled to hold in February.
