Contractors Demand N150 Billion, Say Owed Over N1 Trillion

A group of contractors has described their demand for N150 billion as a fraction of the total sum owed by the government, which they put at over N1.15 trillion.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, a spokesperson noted that the amount being demanded was insignificant compared to the total outstanding debt, which he said exceeded N748 billion.

“All the money the government is owing us is about N1.15 trillion. Our demand for N150 billion is just a fraction. Instead of planning for the 2027 general elections, the government should pay us what we are owed,” he said.

He added that although President Bola Tinubu had reportedly directed that payments be made to indigenous contractors, bureaucratic delays were preventing compliance.
