Court convicts 3 Yahoo Boys arrested at Obasanjo Library hotel raid

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, has secured the conviction of three internet fraudsters arrested during a sting operation at a hotel within the precincts of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, August 18, 2025, convicted and sentenced the trio — Oyatokun Damilola Qudus, Adenekan Adewole Ayinde, and Adisa Okikiade, after they pleaded guilty to separate one-count charges bordering on impersonation and internet fraud.

Qudus was arraigned for fraudulently posing on Instagram as “Eric Melissa,” a fictitious white woman; Ayinde was charged for impersonating a U.S.-based white woman through a Google account; while Okikiade presented himself as “Anthony Krenn” online to deceive unsuspecting victims.

Following their guilty pleas, prosecution counsel S.M. Yabo presented evidence, including their confessional statements, forensic reports from their devices, and items recovered during arrest. These included Ayinde’s iPhone 14 Pro, Okikiade’s Infinix smartphone, and a ₦200,000 restitution draft tendered by Ayinde.

The judge admitted the exhibits and, after listening to pleas for leniency from the defence counsel, handed down custodial sentences with options of fines.

Qudus: One month imprisonment or ₦300,000 fine.

Ayinde: One month imprisonment or ₦250,000 fine; his iPhone 14 Pro and ₦200,000 restitution forfeited to the Federal Government.

Okikiade: One month imprisonment or ₦100,000 fine; his Infinix smartphone forfeited to the government.

The EFCC disclosed that the convicts were part of the 93 suspects arrested on August 10, 2025, during a major sting operation targeting cybercriminals at OOPL.
