Cross River Teen Arrested Over Alleged Fatal Stabbing of Young Man

A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody by the Cross River State Police Command following the alleged fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old resident, Uwem Daniel Akpan, in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
Police authorities said the incident occurred on Sunday evening in Awi community after a disagreement between the two individuals reportedly escalated into violence.
The victim was rushed to a medical facility in Calabar for treatment but was later confirmed dead. His body was subsequently released to family members.
According to the police, the teenage suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently being held while investigations continue.
The command stated that detectives are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the events that led to the death of the young man.
Police further disclosed that the matter is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for a more detailed probe and possible prosecution.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and avoid taking any action that could interfere with the investigation. Authorities assured the public that all relevant facts would be thoroughly examined and that updates would be provided as the case progresses.
