Cubana Chief Priest Sparks Debate After Unveiling Luxury Campaign Vehicles for Tinubu
Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has drawn significant public attention after showcasing a fleet of customized luxury vehicles branded for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
The entrepreneur, who serves as a director for the “City Boy Movement” in Imo State, shared videos on social media featuring a Lamborghini Urus and a Dongfeng M-Hero. The vehicles were outfitted with elaborate designs in red, blue, white, and green, featuring portraits of the President, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the President’s son, Seyi. The cars also carried campaign slogans such as “City Boy Movement,” “APC,” and “Asiwaju Still on Motion.”
The display has ignited a wave of criticism across various social media platforms. Many users questioned the appropriateness of using high-end vehicles for political promotion during a period of ongoing economic hardship in the country.
Critics argued that the financial resources invested in the branding could have been directed toward community development or humanitarian efforts. Other social media users dismissed the gesture as a performative attempt to remain relevant in political circles, with some referencing the socialite’s past political challenges.
Despite the backlash, the entrepreneur has not issued an official response to the controversy. Known for his “Money Na Water” catchphrase and lavish lifestyle, he has previously maintained that his public displays of wealth are expressions of success rather than vanity.
This latest move has once again highlighted the divisive role that celebrity influence and displays of extreme wealth play in Nigerian politics, as the nation begins to look toward the upcoming 2027 election cycle.
