Dangote Refinery Imports Gasoline Components Amid Domestic Supply Concerns

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun importing gasoline components to sustain its production of petrol, according to shipping data reviewed by industry monitors. This move highlights current supply constraints at the massive Lekki facility as it undergoes maintenance.
The refinery is importing unfinished gasoline blendstock for blending purposes, ensuring it can continue to meet domestic demand. At least two tankers carrying approximately 38,000 metric tonnes each of these components are scheduled to arrive this month from terminals in the United Kingdom and France.
In addition to the blendstock, the refinery has also received shipments of condensate and naphtha to supplement its feedstock and optimize the blending process for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), as it continues large-scale truck loading for the Nigerian market.
Industry sources clarify that the imported components are not finished petrol but require blending at the refinery to meet required specifications before distribution. This temporary measure underscores the facility’s strategic efforts to maintain fuel supply despite operational adjustments.
