Dream Big: Akwa Ibo. Governor Umo Eno Inspires MTU Class of 2025

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has urged the Mountain Top University, Ogun State, Class of 2025 to dream big, start small, and grow fast, as they embark on their journey into the wider world. Eno delivered this message during the university’s seventh convocation ceremony and 10th anniversary celebration, themed “Dream Big. Start Small. Grow Fast.”
The governor emphasized the importance of combining hard work with strong moral values, warning the graduates against the lure of instant gratification. “Many young people want to achieve success without putting in the corresponding hard work and, most times, they crash and burn,” he said.
Eno shared his personal story, from humble beginnings as a soft drink vendor on the streets of Lagos to becoming a successful entrepreneur and governor. He credited his success to his faith, hard work, honesty, creativity, and moral discipline.
The governor highlighted his administration’s social intervention programmes, including building 335 compassionate homes for widows and the most needy, providing ₦50,000 monthly to 600 elders, and enrolling over 10,000 elders in the ARISE Medical Insurance Scheme.
He also emphasized his government’s commitment to education, implementing free and compulsory education, paying examination fees, establishing model schools, and providing bursaries.
Chancellor of Mountain Top University, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, described the convocation as “a day of covenant celebration, divine remembrance, and historic gratitude.” He praised the university’s growth, from a vision to a citadel, and urged the graduands to prioritize character over certificates.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elijah Ayolabi announced the university’s achievements, including full accreditation across all programmes and expansion to over 37 academic programmes. The convocation ceremony marked the graduation of the Class of 2025 and capped a week-long celebration of Mountain Top University’s impact.
