DSS Arrests Suspect Over Attack on Peter Obi in Edo

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspect, identified as Udeme Sunday Stephen, in connection with last week’s attack on the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and some chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City, Edo State capital.

According to Channels Television, the secret police apprehended the suspect following a thorough investigation into the incident.

Harmattan News had earlier reported that Mr Obi and some party leaders were attacked at the residence of a prominent ADC chieftain, John Odigie-Oyegun, last Tuesday.

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, had disclosed that the incident occurred shortly after the group returned from the ADC secretariat. They had been at the secretariat to formally welcome the 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate for Edo State, Olumide Akpata, into the ADC.
