Ekiti Amotekun Arrests Man for Alleged Rape of Hearing and Speech-Impaired Teenager

The Ekiti State Security Network, known as Amotekun, has arrested a 20-year-old man, Dare Omoyajowo, for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl who is hearing and speech-impaired.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Corps’ Head of Communications, Adeleye Adewale, the incident occurred in Are Ekiti last Friday. The arrest followed a report made by the victim’s mother at the local Amotekun office.

“The girl returned home with seminal fluids on her body and, using sign language, explained that she had been raped,” Adewale stated. The suspect was subsequently apprehended by operatives in the Ifedara Local Council Development Area.

During interrogation, Omoyajowo reportedly confessed to the crime. He stated that he lured the teenager into his room using gestures and body language, exploiting her condition, and carried out the assault.

Following the confession, the suspect has been transferred to the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado Ekiti for further investigation and prosecution.

This arrest comes weeks after Amotekun operatives in the state arrested a 28-year-old man, Olapade Ifeoluwa, for the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in Ilawe Ekiti. In December, the corps also arrested five individuals for offences including kidnapping and attempted abduction.
