Ekiti Speaker Re-Elected As National Vice Chairman of Conference of Speakers

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has been re-elected as the National Vice Chairman (Southwest Zone) of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.
His re-election took place during a recent meeting of Speakers of State Assemblies held in Abuja, where members unanimously endorsed his continued leadership and contributions to the conference.
In a statement made available to journalists, Aribasoye expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him. He also acknowledged the support of lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, describing it as crucial to his effective participation at the national level.
“I am deeply grateful to my colleagues across the country for this renewed confidence. I see this as a collective responsibility to continue strengthening cooperation among state assemblies and advancing the ideals of democratic governance,” he said.
The Speaker pledged to sustain his support for the conference leadership while contributing ideas and initiatives aimed at deepening legislative innovation, capacity building, and national development.
He noted that his re-election would offer a stronger platform to advance the collective interests of the Southwest Zone, particularly in the areas of legislative autonomy, institutional reforms, capacity development for lawmakers, and regional collaboration in policy formulation.
Aribasoye further emphasised that the Southwest would continue to play a constructive role in shaping national legislative discourse while aligning regional priorities with the broader objectives of the conference.
During the meeting, Speakers also elected the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Denis, as the new Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, alongside other principal officers.
Ahead of the main conference, Aribasoye also attended the meeting of Speakers elected under the All Progressives Congress platform, where the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, emerged as Chairman of the Progressive Speakers’ Forum.
