Fatal Accident Claims Four Lives on Lokoja-Ajaokuta Road

A tragic motor accident on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta road in Kogi State has claimed the lives of at least four people, with eleven others sustaining varying degrees of injuries. The accident, which involved an 18-seater Toyota commercial bus, occurred on Sunday at Jimgbe Community, Ajaokuta Local Government.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kogi state sector commander, Tenimu Etuku, the bus, with Abuja registration number ABC 232 XA, was heading to Abuja from Enugu when the incident happened. FRSC personnel rescued the injured victims and transported them to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the corpses of the four deceased individuals were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Etuku confirmed that the accident was a devastating one, with the injured victims receiving medical attention at the hospital. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and investigations are likely to follow to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.

The tragic incident has left families and loved ones in mourning, and the community is in shock over the loss of lives. The FRSC is urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads, especially during peak travel periods, to prevent such accidents from occurring.
