Father of FUOYE Student Killed in Aramoko-Ekiti Truck Crash Seeks Justice

A 21-year-old student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Promise Farotimi, has been killed after a heavy-duty truck crashed into his family’s residence in Aramoko-Ekiti.

The incident occurred on March 26, when the truck rammed into the building, crushing the 300-level student while he was asleep. The impact also rendered the family homeless.

The father of the deceased, Mr. Rufus Farotimi, described the loss as devastating, stating that he has been left with nothing. “My son was killed, and I am the owner of the house. This accident has destroyed my house. I’ve lost my child and my shelter,” he said.

According to reports, the driver of the truck fled the scene, but his assistant was apprehended. Documents recovered from the vehicle identified the driver as Shuaibu Yusuf.

Mr. Farotimi has called on authorities to apprehend the suspect and urged the company linked to the truck to take responsibility for the incident.

Neighbours and community leaders attributed the accident to reckless driving and poor road conditions, calling for urgent action to prevent a recurrence.

The police have confirmed that the case is currently under investigation.
