Fayemi Denies Report of Private Meeting with Kwankwaso

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has refuted claims that he held a private meeting with former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, at his Abuja home.

Fayemi dismissed the report in a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of his Media Office, Ahmad Sajoh, labeling it as false and urging the public to disregard it.

The statement was a response to a post that circulated on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, which featured an old video clip of Fayemi greeting Kwankwaso.

According to the statement, Fayemi has met Kwankwaso only once in the past year, and that was at the public book launch of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN.

“At no time has Dr Fayemi held, or is he holding, any closed-door political meeting with Senator Kwankwaso as suggested by the post,” the statement clarified.

Fayemi acknowledged a longstanding friendship with Kwankwaso dating back to their time as governors but stressed that the relationship is personal and based on mutual respect, not political alignment.

The statement cautioned against giving partisan interpretations to private relationships and reiterated Fayemi’s commitment to national unity and responsible public discourse.
