Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Charts 25-Year Path Toward Digital and Global Relevance

The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, has unveiled a long-term strategic vision aimed at transforming into a digitally advanced, entrepreneurially focused, and globally engaged institution over the next 25 years.
The plans were finalized during a two-day strategic retreat organized by the university’s governing council and management in Lagos, themed “FUOYE Beyond Today: Strategic Alignment, Governance, Partnerships and Financial Sustainability for the Next 25 Years (2025–2050).”
According to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, the university aims to strengthen its financial sustainability by diversifying revenue sources. These will include endowments, alumni contributions, public-private partnerships, grants, and income-generating enterprises, while maintaining affordability and access for students.
The retreat also emphasized reinforcing governance structures to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership across all levels of the university. Additionally, risk management and campus safety will be integrated into strategic planning to safeguard institutional stability and reputation.
The statement commended the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, for his leadership over the past five years, during which the university achieved notable progress in academic development, research, and infrastructure. It also congratulated the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, on his appointment, which was described as a model of due process and good governance.
Both vice-chancellors contributed to the formulation of the 25-year strategic plan, a factor expected to support leadership continuity and effective implementation. Prof. Fasina is scheduled to complete his tenure next month.
