Five Arrested Over Alleged Robbery as Police Recover Firearm in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has arrested five suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered a pistol with live ammunition during a series of operations across the state.

According to police authorities, the arrests followed an investigation into a robbery incident reported in the Sauka-Kahuta area of Minna, where armed men allegedly stole laptops, mobile phones, motorcycles and other valuables from residents.

Following the report, detectives launched an investigation and gathered evidence from the scene. Their efforts led to the arrest of a suspected gang leader in Minna, who reportedly assisted investigators in tracking down other members of the group.

Subsequent operations resulted in the arrest of additional suspects in different locations within Niger and neighbouring Nasarawa State. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted to carrying out robbery operations in several parts of Minna, including Mandela, Sauka-Kahuta, Barkin-Sale, Farm Centre and Highpoint.

Further investigation led officers to another suspect believed to have been keeping the gang’s weapon. A Beretta pistol and two rounds of live ammunition were recovered during the operation.

Police also uncovered information suggesting that stolen items were regularly sold to a suspected receiver. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the individual.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
