FRSC Confirms 12 Deaths in Kogi Highway Crash

A fatal auto crash on the Ejule-Enugu highway in Kogi State has claimed the lives of 12 people, including a child, and left two others injured. The accident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday when an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, belonging to Romchi Mass Transit, rammed into a parked faulty articulated vehicle due to over speeding.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr Tenimu Etuku, confirmed the incident, describing it as “fatal and very unfortunate”. The injured victims have been rushed to Mercy of Jesus Hospital Ejule for medical attention, while the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.
Etuku has expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and reiterated the dangers of excessive speed and reckless overtaking by motorists. He has urged drivers to exercise patience and maintain safe driving practices, especially during the yuletide season, to reduce the alarming rate of road traffic crashes and fatalities in the country.
