FUOYE VC Advises Fresh Students to Build Solid Foundation

Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, has advised 11,327 fresh students to prioritize building a solid foundation for their lives through their actions and choices. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held at both Oye Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti campuses, Fasina emphasized that a strong foundation is crucial for stability and success, highlighting core elements such as honesty, integrity, curiosity, love for learning, and resilience.
In his address, titled ‘Building a House on the Solid Rock,’ Fasina stressed that integrity should guide the students’ actions and choices, noting that a house built on solid rock will stand strong, while one built on weak ground will fall. He described the matriculation ceremony as a covenant with the university, urging students to fully participate in campus life.
Fasina also encouraged students to nurture their curiosity, explore new ideas, and embrace challenges with resilience, adding that setbacks will come, but they should strengthen them. He emphasized the importance of community support, urging freshers to collaborate with peers, seek help from lecturers, and utilize the university’s support services.
