Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), succeeding Professor Ibijoke Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure has expired.
The appointment was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Omotoso said Professor Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, was born on August 4, 1962.
He said the new Vice-Chancellor obtained a Ph.D. in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), as well as a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling from the same institution.
According to the commissioner, Professor Badejo succeeds Professor Ibijoke Olatunji-Bello, whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor has ended after five years in office.
Omotoso said the appointment formed part of the state government’s effort to ensure continuity in the leadership and administration of the university.
He congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor and wished her a successful tenure as she takes over the leadership of the institution.
The commissioner also acknowledged the service of Professor Olatunji-Bello during her tenure and wished her well in her retirement.
