Gov Yusuf orders LG Councillors to present grassroots plans

Poised to foster development at the grassroot, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has tasked 484 Councillors in the state to forward ward level development blueprint to accelerate growth.

The Governor issued the order in Kano, during a meeting with the ward Councillors at the Government House.

He said, already five billion naira (N5b) have been set aside through a joint efforts with the Leadership of the Local Governments for them to assess.

“Look out for projects at ward levels especially in schools, their toilets boreholes. The money is there for you to assess.”

He told them to consider their elections as well deserved and a commitment to service to the people of their respective communities.

Governor Yusuf directed the councillors to go back to their wards and compile list of vulnerable individuals deserving education, empowerment and skills development to his table for immediate assistance.

“We want to know from you the plights, the needs of your people, their challenges in the area of education, tell us conditions of your schools, Hospitals, boreholes.”

He reiterated his administration desires to listen to the cry and addressing the plights of citizens in all facts of life.

“Our government gives empowerment to women every month, submit the list from your wards of vulnerable individuals, let’s help them because you know them better than us.” Please do it with sensirity.” The Governor added.

He called for better synergy between the the chairmen and councillors for improved governance at the local governments levels.

The Governor drew the attention of the Councillors against pilfering with public funds as public office is a public trust.

He said, corruption has no place in his administration and can not be condone under any guise.

Governor encouraged the Councillors to always stay in their ward and local governments in order to understand the problems of the people and report to the state government.

Also, the Kano State speaker House of Assembly Jibril Falgore appealed to Governor Yusuf to consider upward review of allowances of councillors.

The Chairperson All Local Governments of Nigeria ALGON Kano State Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u commended the Governor for convening the meeting aimed at strengthening relations.
