Governor Ahmadu Fintiri Defects to APC

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on 27 February 2026 announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, during a statewide broadcast.

The governor confirmed that his decision includes the defection of his entire cabinet and all PDP officials within the state.

Fintiri cited the developmental interest of Adamawa State residents as the motivation behind the move.

The announcement follows a trend of high-profile defections to the APC, including Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefa, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang.
