Gunmen Abduct Kebbi High Court Judge from Residence
Suspected gunmen have abducted Justice Faruku Bunza, a judge of the Kebbi State High Court, following a late-night raid on his residence in the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday along Zogirma Road, shortly after the judge returned home from a trip to neighboring Sokoto State.
According to family sources, the armed assailants invaded the compound around midnight, shouting and creating panic in the neighborhood before forcing Justice Bunza away. No other occupants of the home were physically harmed during the intrusion.
Officials from the Kebbi State High Court confirmed the incident, calling it a major blow to the judiciary. Court authorities are reportedly in active consultation with security agency heads to coordinate emergency response efforts.
The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction and stated that Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia has deployed tactical and intelligence units to track down the perpetrators. Security teams are currently combing nearby forest areas and suspected hideouts to secure the judge’s safe return.
