Guns Seized: Osun Man Arrested for Unlicensed Weapons

The Osun State Police Command has arrested several individuals in separate operations for unlawful possession of firearms and human remains, as part of efforts to ensure a safe Christmas and New Year celebration in the state. According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests were made under the directives of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, targeting black spots and criminal hideouts.

On December 16, Alarape Wasiu, a resident of Olorunsogo community in Ikire, was arrested for possessing an unlicensed single-barrel gun and three live cartridges. A second single-barrel gun was recovered from his village at Baralola via Ikire, with the police stating the guns were used to terrorize Ikire and surrounding areas.

In a separate incident on December 3, three men – Taiwo Ogunbode, 47; Thomas Ogo, 52; and Lateef Afeez, 30 – were arrested at Ile Ogbo, Iwo, for possessing human parts. Recovered items included human skin, a burial gown, bones, teeth, and other suspicious items. The suspects confessed to exhuming corpses from a Muslim cemetery for money-making rituals.

The police stated all suspects will be charged to court after investigations are completed.
