Helen Williams Sets Guinness Record for Tallest Wig

A Nigerian woman, Helen Williams, has made history by setting a hat-trick of Guinness World Records, creating a wig that stands taller than a three-storey building. Williams, a renowned professional wig maker, has added the tallest wig to her collection, measuring an incredible 15.37 metres (50.42 ft) from the top of her head.
This achievement comes on the heels of her previous records for the world’s longest handmade wig, which measured 351.28 metres (1,152 ft 5 in), and the widest wig, which measured 3.65 metres (11 ft 11 in). The Guinness World Records confirmed Williams’ latest achievement on its website, praising her exceptional skill and creativity.
According to Williams, the construction of the tallest wig was a significant challenge. She had to redesign the internal structure to ensure stability after a test run failed. The project required 250 bundles of synthetic hair and cost over ₦3 million (approximately $2,066/£1,551) to complete, taking two weeks to finish.
Williams told Guinness World Records, “I don’t think I’ll ever stop breaking records. To have a record is like climbing a mountain. The climb is hard and full of challenges, but the view from the top is incredible. Breaking another record shows that nothing is impossible.”
She added, “The longest wig was easiest as a wig maker, but the tallest wig was the most technical and challenging because of the construction of the structure. You can know how to make a wig and have 10 or 20 years of experience, but if the internal structure doesn’t hold, you won’t get the record.”
Williams already holds additional records, including the most hair clips in a wig in 30 seconds (94) and the most hair clips on the head in 30 seconds (97). She attributes her success to courage, determination, and the ability to overcome doubt and fear.
“There are more records to break, more boundaries to push, and more dreams to achieve,” she said, hinting at future achievements. Williams’ latest record is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft, cementing her position as a leading figure in the world of wig making.
