IBEDC Blames National Grid for Power Outages in Oyo, Kwara, Others

Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has blamed the ongoing power outages and intermittent supply in its service areas on a reduction in load allocation from the national grid. The company issued a public notice on Tuesday, apologizing for the inconvenience caused to customers in Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Osun, and parts of Ibadan.
According to IBEDC, the reduced allocation from the national grid has limited the volume of electricity available for distribution, leading to extended outage periods. The company is engaging with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to improve supply stability.
IBEDC stated, “We are actively working with TCN and NISO to address the situation and improve power supply. In the meantime, we are strategically allocating the available load across feeders and service bands to ensure fairness and operational efficiency.”
The distribution company assured customers of its commitment to keeping them informed as the situation evolves and appreciated their patience and understanding. The affected areas have been experiencing power supply challenges, and IBEDC is working to restore normalcy.
