IFAD, Governments Launch Program to Train 14,800 Ondo Youths in Agriculture

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Ondo State Government, is set to train and empower 14,800 youths in agricultural production across the state.
The initiative, part of the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprise-Niger Delta Project, will operate in 100 communities spanning all 10 local government areas of Ondo State. Beneficiaries will receive training and support in cocoa, cassava, fishery, and poultry production.
Ondo State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olawale Ademola, announced the plan during a media roundtable in Akure on Thursday. He stated that the project is an extension of a first phase, which successfully trained 4,182 youths and ended in April 2025.
“Because of its significant impact, the project has been extended for another three years,” Ademola explained.
He acknowledged challenges such as insecurity, inflation, and literacy levels but confirmed measures are in place to address them.
Officials emphasized that the project aims to boost food security, generate youth employment, and promote agriculture as a sustainable business.
