Imo State to Host 17th NNL Annual General Meeting Ahead of New Season

Imo State has been selected to host the 17th Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria National League, scheduled to take place on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Owerri. The executive gathering will primarily focus on finalizing preparations for the upcoming 2026/2027 football season.

Delegates representing all 36 participating clubs across the country are expected to arrive in the state capital on Thursday, August 20, with official proceedings set to begin the following day.

Executive leadership within the league confirmed that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma approved the state’s hosting rights for the event. League officials noted that the governor’s support plays a critical role in facilitating key administrative events that drive domestic sports development.

Primary agenda items for the assembly include establishing the official roadmap and kickoff schedule for the 2026/2027 season, reviewing and enforcing updated club licensing standards, and discussing proposed regulatory amendments to the league framework.

Prominent figures across national football administration are slated to attend the gathering, alongside club executives and league officials. While the event schedule is set, specific details regarding the venue within Owerri will be communicated directly to participating teams in the coming days.

The previous assembly was held in Kaduna State, where club officials met to establish guidelines for the prior season.
