In 5 Sets, Alcaraz Beats Djokovic To Claim First Wimbledon Title

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia staged a remarkable comeback to beat Novak Djokovic and secure his first Wimbledon title win on Sunday.

The 20-year-old claimed his second Grand Slam title after coming back from a set down to win 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

The world no.1, who won the 2022 US Open at the age of 19, became the sixth player to have won multiple Grand Slam titles before turning 21.

Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic, David Nalbandian and Rafael Nadal (2006) are other players to have achieved the feat.

Alcaraz now has a 2-1 winning record over Djokovic in their three meetings so far — ATP Tour in Madrid, the 2023 French Open, and now Wimbledon.

As the 2023 Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz will be going home with prize money of £2,350,000.
