In Joint Operation, Police, Army Repel Insurgents Attack In Borno

In a joint security operation, the police and army have repelled an attack on a police station by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Jakana, Kaga LGA of Borno state.
A security-focused publication, Zagazola Makama reported that the insurgents attacked the police outpost in the early hours of Saturday around 2:30 am.
The insurgents arrived on motorcycles and began shooting sporadically.
Sources said police officers and troops of the 29 task force brigade – a fighting patrol – swiftly responded to the attack which resulted in a heavy gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes.
A source said the insurgents were forced to flee after they were overwhelmed by the troops.
The source said no casualty was recorded in the encounter, adding that a bulletproof vest and two magazines were recovered from the insurgents.
