Participants at INEC's Certified Technical Capacity Building Workshop

The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced a two-day capacity-building workshop in Enugu State for its SERVICOM desk officers, aimed at strengthening service delivery and transparency across the commission.

The workshop, which opened on Monday, focuses on reviewing INEC’s Integrated Service Charter and developing a Local Service Charter to improve service standards. It is being conducted in collaboration with the SERVICOM Presidency Team and was approved by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan.

In his opening remarks, Director of Administration Mr. Austin Orogbu highlighted the importance of the training, noting INEC’s commitment to improving service delivery. He commended the SERVICOM unit for recently being recognized as the “most improved parastatal service unit.”

The Administrative Secretary of INEC in Enugu State was represented by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Rex Achimie, who emphasized that credible elections depend not only on laws and technology but also on efficient service delivery and administrative best practices.

According to organizers, the workshop is designed to align INEC’s service frameworks with its strategic goals, gather stakeholder feedback, and address service delivery gaps. Expected outcomes include clearer service definitions, improved accountability, higher stakeholder satisfaction, and a more efficient service framework.

The initiative reflects INEC’s ongoing effort to strengthen internal processes and bolster public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system.
