JAMB Extends Deadline for Candidates to Accept or Reject Admission Offers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 to either accept or reject them.

The new deadline is September 30, 2026, replacing the earlier date of August 31. The extension gives affected candidates additional time to make a decision regarding their admission status.

JAMB said candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to access and print their admission letters, while those who reject the offers will have their status changed to “Not Admitted,” allowing the board to update its records.

The board advised candidates who are no longer studying in the institutions where the admissions were originally offered to accept the offers first and later apply for the necessary corrections or deletion of the admission records where applicable.

Candidates currently pursuing another programme or a second degree were also advised to reject any previous admission offers that remain pending. JAMB clarified that rejecting an earlier admission offer will not affect candidates who have already secured admission in the 2026 admission exercise.

The examination body said the extension is aimed at ensuring accurate and up-to-date admission records nationwide. It, however, warned that no further extension will be granted after September 30.

According to the board, any admission offer that remains neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline will automatically be cancelled and reverted to “Not Admitted” status. Candidates were therefore urged to take the necessary action before the expiration of the deadline.
