JAMB Releases Day One UTME Results for Over 632,000 Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 632,788 candidates who sat for the opening day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, April 16.

The swift release has been described by observers as one of the most rapid turnarounds in the examination body’s history.

In a statement issued Friday night via his official X handle, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin confirmed that candidates can now access their scores using a simple SMS process. Candidates are instructed to text the word “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the mobile number registered with the Board.

Dr. Benjamin clarified that only scores are currently available for viewing, while the printing of official result slips will be enabled at a later date.

“The results of candidates who sat the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16 April 2026, have been released and are now available for viewing,” the statement read. “At this stage, candidates may view their results only; printing is not yet available.”

Examination Continues Nationwide

The 2026 UTME commenced on April 16 and is scheduled to run through April 22 across designated computer-based test centres nationwide. The Board indicated that additional results will be released in batches as the examination exercise progresses.

Warning Against Result Falsification

JAMB also issued a stern warning to candidates and parents regarding the manipulation of examination scores. The Board disclosed that it has already apprehended two candidates and one parent for allegedly falsifying UTME results through the use of artificial intelligence and other electronic methods.

Dr. Benjamin stressed that tampering with official result notifications constitutes a criminal offence and that offenders will face prosecution.

“Any candidate found culpable of examination malpractice or score manipulation will be made to face the full weight of the law,” he warned.
