Jigawa Governor Receives Strategic Reconciliation Report Ahead of 2027 Elections

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has received the official report from a special committee established to consult and mediate among All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections. The initiative, launched in late May under the leadership of party chieftain Isah Gerawa, was designed to engage aspirants, address lingering grievances, and foster internal party cohesion.
While the primaries were conducted peacefully across the state, Governor Namadi emphasized the necessity of ongoing consultations to ensure all members feel valued and to fortify party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. Presenting the report on Friday at the Government House in Dutse, Senator Muhammad Dudu, representing the committee chairman, commended the governor’s foresight, noting that such a structured reconciliation process was unprecedented in Jigawa State’s democratic history since 1999.
During its assignment, the 15-member committee toured all 27 local government areas, meeting with over 400 individuals, including both successful and unsuccessful aspirants. Senator Dudu highlighted that these engagements provided a vital platform to resolve internal differences and express appreciation for the aspirants’ contributions to the party.
In his response, Governor Namadi praised the committee for its dedication, noting that positive feedback regarding its unifying impact had already begun circulating before the final report was submitted. Emphasizing that every member plays a critical role in the party’s success, the governor urged the committee to transition into a standing body to sustain peace and reconciliation efforts through to the general elections.
