DG, Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ahmad Labbo

The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially repaid a ₦3.4 billion loan to the state government following the successful conclusion of the 2026 Hajj operations.

The refund, which was confirmed on Thursday in Dutse, represents the full amount advanced by the state to assist the board in securing Hajj slots for pilgrims from the state in compliance with deadlines set by Saudi Arabian authorities.

Ahmad Labbo, the Director-General of the board, formally handed over the funds to state officials, noting that the repayment was completed without any deductions or interest. He emphasized that the exercise highlights the board’s commitment to financial accountability and the prudent management of public resources.

“The board has refunded the sum of ₦3.4 billion granted by the state government for the smooth conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations,” Labbo stated. He credited the early financial intervention of Governor Umar Namadi for the board’s ability to meet critical deadlines and ensure the effective participation of Jigawa’s pilgrims during the recent exercise.

The Director-General further stated that the board remains focused on maintaining high standards of fiscal discipline as it transitions into preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage, for which registration has already commenced. He assured that the board would continue to prioritize efficient planning and the welfare of pilgrims through the effective use of allocated funds.

This repayment coincides with the board’s recent opening of registration for the 2027 Hajj, signaling a move toward finalizing logistical arrangements for the upcoming cycle. Government officials have consistently provided logistical and financial backing to the board, a partnership the agency says has significantly improved the quality of service delivery for state pilgrims.
