Jonathan disowns fake Instagram account, says he has no personal page
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has distanced himself from an Instagram account falsely operating under his name. The account, which bears the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, is being used to mislead the public, according to a statement from his media office.
Mr Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan’s media aide, clarified on Friday that the former president does not own or maintain any personal Instagram account. He noted that the page has changed its username at least 13 times and often alternates between posing as a fan page and impersonating the former president.
Eze warned members of the public to disregard the account, describing it as a deliberate attempt at deception. He also called on Meta, the parent company of Instagram, to take appropriate action against the impostor page.
