Jubilation in Sokoto as Troops Foil Terror Attack, Recover Rustled Cattle

There was jubilation in Asarara Kaura community, Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, following the recovery of a large herd of rustled cattle by troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

The troops, deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations, acted on credible intelligence that armed terrorists had infiltrated the community, terrorising residents and rustling livestock.

Acting swiftly, the troops mobilised and intercepted the fleeing terrorists along the Tambuwal–Gadaichi–Gummi Road axis.

On sighting the troops, the terrorists opened fire in a bid to escape, but were overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower. The terrorists fled into surrounding bushes with gunshot wounds, abandoning the entire herd.

Residents of Asarara Kaura and neighbouring communities trooped out to commend the troops for their bravery and prompt response in safeguarding lives and livelihood.

The recovered livestock is currently in secure military custody. Arrangements have been concluded for its formal handover to the Chairman of the Sokoto State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals for verification and return to rightful owners.
