Juju Singer Saint Janet Complained of Chest Pain Before Passing Away in Hospital, Family Reveals

Family members of veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician Iyun Janet Ajilore, popularly known as Saint Janet, have shared details surrounding her sudden death, revealing that she suffered severe chest pain and breathing difficulties shortly before she died.

Speaking in a recent interview, the singer’s children recounted her final hours, explaining that she had performed overnight at an event in Sango, Ogun State, showing no signs of illness or distress.

According to her daughter, Omowunmi, the singer went to the market the following day and returned home to prepare a meal. Shortly after cooking, she began clutching her chest, complaining of discomfort, and noticed her breathing becoming irregular.

Saint Janet requested to be taken to a medical facility, where doctors administered oxygen upon her arrival. Her son, Orinayo, noted that medical staff attempted to stabilize her, but she lost her pulse shortly after being admitted.

Her manager and close associates confirmed that she appeared in good health during her last performance and had been active earlier on the day of her passing.

Following her death, the family established a committee to manage the burial arrangements. Funeral services for the late musician have been scheduled for August 25 and 26, following a nine-day period of prayer and thanksgiving.
