Kaduna Government Empowers Bereaved Families with Housing and Scholarships

The Kaduna State Government has fulfilled its promise to support families affected by tragic acts of violence, presenting new homes, educational scholarships, and financial assistance to the relatives of a slain clergyman and a victim of mob violence.

Governor Uba Sani made the disclosure on Tuesday after hosting separate delegations representing the families of the late Venerable Edwin Achi and the late Ummulkhair Aliyu at the Government House.

The administration stepped in to cushion the impact of the losses by providing housing units, financial empowerment, and full educational coverage for the children of the victims. Government officials noted that these measures form part of a broader state initiative to restore dignity, hope, and social security to victims of criminality and community violence across Kaduna State.

Venerable Edwin Achi, who served as the priest-in-charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church in Chikun Local Government Area, tragically died in captivity after being abducted alongside his family in late 2025. Similarly, Ummulkhair Aliyu, an Islamic teacher, lost her life following a tragic incident of jungle justice in the Maraban Jos area of Igabi Local Government Area.

Reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on lawlessness and violence, the governor emphasized that the state will continue collaborating closely with security agencies, traditional institutions, and religious leaders to foster a safer and more inclusive society for all residents.
